Hossegor-based Anglo-Aussie quartet will play Electric Wave Festival

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 31 May, 2017 - Surf Snowdonia has added Anglo-Aussie indie band Sunset Sons to their Electric Wave Festival line up. The band, who are not currently touring, will be the headline act for Sunday 16th July, the grand finale of Surf Snowdonia’s three-day surf and music festival this summer.

Sunset Sons is a quartet of British and Australian surfer musicians who are based in the French surf town Hossegor, near Biarritz.

To date, the indie surf band has released four EPs and a debut album Very Rarely Say Die.  They’ve played sell-out gigs in the UK, Ireland, Europe and on the west coast of the US and been shortlisted for awards by BBC Music Sound Of, MTV Brand New, and XFM’s Great X-Pectations.

Sunset Sons will be supported at Surf Snowdonia by Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles – the new musical endeavour from Billy Bibby, former and founding lead guitarist of Llandudno’s Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Other headline acts at the three-day Electric Wave festival include Mercury Prize-winning artist Badly Drawn Boy, DJ Anton Powers and reggae artist General Levy. The line-up also includes Bez from Happy Mondays, 25 Years of Cream, Showhawk Duo and DJ Yoda as well as big local talent like Calfari, The Spitting Pips and Storyville Mob.

Surf Snowdonia’s Electric Wave festival will take place on the shores of their world-first inland surf lagoon, against a backdrop of the Conwy Valley’s magnificent mountains and forests.

As well as music and surf, the festival will feature comedy, skate and a whole load of family-friendly activities like slacklining, mountain bikes, Crash & Splash, The Big Welsh Blob Competition and an Electric Wave fairground. Local producers will showcase the best in street food, BBQ, real ales and craft beers.
