Development plans for apartments, wavegarden and more
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 November, 2015 - The Subiaco Oval in Perth could become an urban surfing village if a $120 million proposal goes through. The development would turn the Subiaco Oval stadium into parkland, market space, apartments and a surf park.
Perth Now reported the Subiaco-based architects MJA Studio and international surf park company Wave Park Group will launch a development that includes a 300m-long by 120m wide freshwater lagoon.
The waves produced would top out at two meters and travel for 200 meters with rides up to 30 seconds possible.
Perth Now also reported the park will include: 220 dual-aspect one and two bedroom apartments ranging from $500,000 to $800,000; elevated public parkland inspired by New York’s High Line park and a dedicated market hall.
