An Aussie Rick Kane is out there. Thanks to URBNSURF we might find him

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 April, 2016 - The latest Wavegarden powered surf park has been confirmed for development in Melbourne Australia on a seven hectare site adjacent the Essendon Football club in Tullamarine.

Planners URBNSURFannounced today that Wave Park Group will build the wave pool complex, capable of producing waves from .05m to 2m high.

Much like the Surf Snowdonia project in Wales URBNSURF will feature a surf training academy, climbing wall, parkour trail, bouldering course, mountain bike track, running track and other “lifestyle” sport activities.

“The beauty of the Wavegarden technology is that it can accommodate in separate zones the needs of all surfers — from the smallest groms, and those starting out, through to the high performance training requirements of elite surfing athletes,” said Wave Park Group Chairman Andrew Ross told the Herald Sun.

“Melbourne’s 200,000 or so surfers will be able to enjoy longer and better quality rides than can usually be found at many of Victoria’s most popular breaks, all within a 25 minute drive of the Melbourne CBD,” Mr Ross added.

The project is expected to create 300 jobs and add $267 million to the local economy over the project’s lifetime.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this year and cost an estimated $18.5 million. Completion of the project is estimated to be in late 2017.
